Where can you light fireworks in Anchorage?
Fireworks are not allowed in the Municipality of Anchorage, but they are allowed in some other areas of the state, such as Houston, but only on private land with the land owner's permission. If the Alaska Division of Forestry issues a burn ban in the area, they are then prohibited.
All fireworks, including sparklers and bottle rockets, are illegal in the Municipality of Anchorage and the use of fireworks is punishable with a fine of up to $300.00.

Usually local governments, not the state, set the rules for fireworks. Bigger towns and developed areas are more likely to regulate or entirely prohibit fireworks. In Anchorage and the Mat-Su Borough, fireworks are illegal all year except in limited areas on New Year's Eve, if the risk of fire is low.

Every year, the small community of Glacier View becomes the home of what is arguably the most Alaskan Fourth of July tradition around: the car launch. It's exactly what it sounds like: Residents launch old vehicles, decorated for the holiday, off a cliff to their demise on the riverbed.
To reduce the risk of fires in the Municipality, outdoor burning is restricted to recreational burning only. Burning trash, yard debris, leaves, construction material, woody debris including Spruce Bark Beetle wood, is prohibited in the Municipality of Anchorage.
Warming fires and campfires smaller than 3 feet in diameter are allowed during a burn suspension. However, the Division of Forestry recommends that people refrain from lighting any open fire until changing weather conditions have reduce the fire danger.
Burn permits are free and are available at local state forestry offices in Delta Junction, Fairbanks, Glennallen, Haines, Ketchikan, Palmer, Soldotna and Tok, as well as local fire departments in many of those same areas. Permits can also be printed online at https://dnr.alaska.gov/burn.

Standard fireworks can't be shipped via UPS or FedEx either, though in some cases companies deliver fireworks orders via common carrier truck.
Where are fireworks illegal? There's only one state that completely bans all consumer fireworks, and that's Massachusetts. However, they do permit fireworks displays put on by professionals, so you can still catch a show for the 4th of July.
Open Burning. According to Section 29A of Environmental Quality Act 1974; “open burning” means any fire, combustion or smouldering that occurs in the open air and which is not directed there through a chimney or stack.
It includes the Kenai Peninsula, Matanuska-Susitna, Denali and Fairbanks North Star boroughs, as well as the Copper River Basin, Delta Junction, Tok and surrounding areas. Denali National Park and Preserve banned fires late Thursday.
The Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak Island will begin a burn suspension beginning May 10th, 2022. The burn-suspension will prohibit all burning requiring a permit, both large and small scale. This includes the use of burn barrels, lawn burning, and burning of brush piles.
