Where can I see belugas in Alaska?
Belugas are often seen south of Anchorage along Turnagain Arm from mid-July through August when salmon are running. They may be seen from shore near Nome on the Seward Peninsula as they follow the tomcod migration down the coast in fall.

When not appearing on live camera feeds, beluga whales are most commonly found in Arctic regions. Adventurers who visit northern Canada, Greenland, and Norway's Svalbard archipelago are in prime locations to see belugas swimming and playing in their natural habitats.
Beluga Point is located at milepost 110.5 on the Seward Highway and 6.5 miles south of the Anchorage city limits.
Belugas can be seen coming in with the tide. -Best time of year is mid-August through October. Peak viewing is usually around the first week of September. -Best viewing areas are Beluga Point, Windy Corner, the Bird Point viewing platform, and Mile Post 95.5.

Belugas travel hundreds of miles up the Yukon River, chasing salmon, but every one of the eye-witnesses are familiar with this small white whale. The colors do not match and belugas have never been reported in Iliamna.

The Bird Point Park is part of Chugach State Park. It is a very wonderful rest area to take a break from Seward Highway. There is a nice walkway facing the Turnagain Arm.
